Who *owns* the condoms?

January 17th 2008 22:19
condoms colour protective sex

In a modern world where men and women can (almost) have the same jobs, own the same material goods and have just as a good a lifestyle as the other gender…when it comes to condoms, there’s still a good *debate* on who should *own* it.

Who does own it?

gender female male symbols

> the gentlemen
> the lady
> the one who doesn’t want to risk any thing or any one
> the planner
> the nymphomaniac/horn-bag
> the kinky one – who wants to make sure that the *play* involves flavours and glow-in-the-dark…to spice things up
> the responsible one…
> the philanderer...

Who?

couple in bed

Do we tend to (unconsciously) *label* the person with a handy pack of condoms?

What kind of presumptions...assumptions do you have of that person (...if any)?

ooohhhhh golly .... I have a six month rule and if they pass that 'wait' then they have to do the tests. With current Mr Wonderful, he had the tests but kept forgetting (or not making time for the results) so he had to use these little buggers. I can't remember who bought the first pack, I think I had some tucked away for an emergency in case I couldn't hold out and then he bought the next box. When he got sick of them he finally picked up his results ...

I think it's always a good idea for everyone to have condoms - but at home. The guy with a condom in his wallet - he reeks of desperation..

Both. And Cibbuano is right - keep them at home but then again the girl with a condom in her purse reeks slut!

So guess we should all bring it, hide it in our shoes or something.

Being safe is a good idea, Catherine. Glad that emergency pack came in handy!!

Totally, Cibbuano!

Amy...there's an idea there...

Well Lara, generally I try to avoid wanton women wearing Vulva parfume and carrying condoms, and if I didn't, I'd be concerned that she-the keeper of the (used) condom may want to artificially inseminate herself and hook someone with child support.

Otherwise, I'd wait until we're both sure of where the relationship was going and had mutually decided upon birth control methods; after we were mutually assured there weren't any STD's to share. But that's just me.

Hmmmm. A condom in my walled??? I remember doing that when I was 14!

As for adulthood--who??? Either way, it never hurts to be prepared!

Cool post!

I'd love to debate you on this but we need a referee.

I think it's good to be prepared, but you do risk being thought of as racy. Personally, I'd rather be a slut than a pregnant slut. That's just me, though. LOL

I don't think it matters, as long as everyone involved is being responsible.

And I am obviously limiting 'everybody' to one other person. Obviously. Lol.

But maybe the man should have more input, especially if in a new relationship, since he has to wear them and will probably know what kind is best for him, and fits him. After all, men wouldn't bring along a diaphragm for the ladies, even if they could!

Well, I hope not anyway!

Have the guy get a vasectomy. Problem solved. If you wanna be really safe then have sex with your clothes on.

Seriously I don't think it really matters. I think in today's world it's acceptable for a guy or a girl to carry around a condom or two with them just in case anything should happen. Better to be prepared for the unexpected instead of "expecting" something to happen 9 months later.

If it's down to the moment of truth and some lout assumes you're a slut because you happen to have a condom handy, well---he can go on his merry way, find a "nice" girl, and carry his own bloody condoms.

Right on, Armenta. I think that double standard of BADGIRL/GOODGIRL is a bunch of hooey!!!!! What's good for the goose is good for the gander!

I think people need to quit worrying about what others think about us and protect ourselves. Yeah, it's not fun to be seen as a slut or a pervert... but what's not fun is dying of AIDS. It's not fun for yourself, for your family or those who love you. It hurts everyone around you whether you realize it or not. It is time for people to leave the prejudice aside and think about their health not to mention that of a possible child. Why risk STDs or conceive an innocent child then face the two-way road between abortion and birth?
Be responsible no matter what others think. If someone judges you for having a condom whether you're a guy or a girl, then you shouldn't have sex with that person. Think about it.

Im the kinky girl that always has a selection of condom and.... things beside the bed. Everyone makes assumptions of me.

I just think its smart to carry them. Everyone should. No judgements from me.

have to agree I`m afraid - carry them on you because you never know what will happen and when? where? always better to be prepared than to be pregnant?

what movie was I watching the other day when the kid asked the dad what name they had come up with for a boy slut? dunno... the reply? nothing yet sweetie! UH HUH!

Most probably have the same good intentions to start with... Yours is the perfect (and *right*?) approach, Raven -- and always with the wise words.

Almost good to be prepared, James! Thanks for popping in.

I'm not up for a debate, Norm ...but am sure your views would be appreciated by me/other readers.

Good attitude, Fingertip Titans Unite! Nice to meet u.

<LOL>...funny, Michaelie -- and very true on most aspects! Check out my next post re. fit. It's sizes galore! ...and people thought shoe and bra shopping were challenging...!

Thanks for your view, Wayne. I guess key for most is 'better to be safe than sorry' ...in any scenario...

Well said, D Good to see u.

It's true isn't it James, re. the 'double standard...? Or is that too modern a thinking?

Thanks for your comment, Anon -- and it's certainly words to remember by. I've friends who've STDs, which luckily for them hasn't resulted in death (yet...) but it certainly serves to remind us that we're as responsible as the person we sleep with...

Kinky or not, you're the smart one, Kleonaptra. Thanks for sharing!

'Be prepared' is a good idea, Ash. Re. the moview...hmmm, got me thinking -- what would be apt for a 'boy slut'...?
