What won’t you eat on a date?

A date is always a bit nerve wrecking but exciting at the same time. While most might initially make it casual over a drink or two (or coffee), some might be bold enough to tackle a meal.
Apart from getting though the meal with enough interesting conversation, eating on a date can be rife with obstacles – especially if you order the *wrong* thing.
Food with shells or bones, like shellfish or chicken wings – Unless you can make eating with fingers (non-barbaric) sexy, delicate and elegant, many I spoke to have said that this is a definite no-no.
Spaghetti/Linguine…any kind of string-like pasta – Unless you’ve truly mastered the art of a small twirl around your fork, this may not be the meal to order. Otherwise, you may just get dizzy from the endless twirling! Even trying to shovel a big twirl into your mouth is not elegant.
Raw onions – Ewww! Unless you don’t like your date, this is definitely a romance killer at the first bite. It has to be the most pungent and heavily flavoured vegetable ever.
Garlic – As bad as the raw onions!
Salad – While it may portray you as a light-eater, it can be a challenge to eat. Apart from the task of trying to *fold* the leaves into neat little mouthfuls, there’s the big challenge of daintily putting it in your mouth...especially if you weren’t too successful in the *folding*.
Spicy food – The level of spice is subjective. Excess stomach acid/gas from nervousness plus spices could create additional gases in your stomach, which may leave you with a less than comfortable tummy. Not very romantic is it...
So, what should you have? Go for something that you can eat with ease, feel comfortable eating, and can have a conversation as well.
What are your experiences? What won’t you eat on a date?
