Weekends...

November 23rd 2007 07:30
red fireworks heart

In these modern days – of mobile phones with appointment reminders, and Blackberries for e-mail on-the-go – it seems like we’re getting bombarded with work and non-fun things all the time, leaving us with even less time to do the things we really want to be doing, and perhaps even less time with that special half/partner.

Couples I’ve talked to say the weekends are *sacred*, and blocked-off for time with each other. While some of the things these couples get up to may not sound too exciting, it is the time spent together that matters the most. In fact, most relationship therapists remind that relationships need to be nurtured and worked on, and doing things together is a positive step (regardless).

Here are some alternative *fertilizers* to nourish your relationship with this weekend:

De-clutter – Getting rid of unnecessary items around the love-nest can help create a sense of balance again within your self and your relationship. It helps to clear the air and space, and reminds us that material things…are at the end of the day only materials.

Have a Makeover – Now that the love-nest is clutter-free, spice it up with aromatherapy candles and oil-burners with lovely sensuous scents like the ancient aphrodisiac Sandalwood, sexy Ylang Ylang, or a sensual concoction of Neroli (2 drops), Rose (1 drop) and Mandarin (4 drops).

For the daring, perhaps paint a feature wall with a Feng-Shui colour (for love and relationships). Try a romantic pink, sensuous red…or a purifying white.

Dine – Time to nourish the heart and soul after all that hardwork. Feed your body, soul…and your partner with some ideas here. Home-made, takeaway or dining-out…the choices are endless in the number of cuisines you could try in your city.

Me being waited on hand and foot. Always fun. Might not be good for relationships, but then I'm not either at the moment! Lol.

Lara, hubby and I make sure we block off one weekend day just to walk around. Our routine starts with me making breakfast then we walk for hours around some huge park and sit down in the afternoon for a coffee. It's not much and may be a little boring for some but I find that doing this retains the connection we have with each other.

So, this is where some of the female generation Y'ers hang out....

I believe that nothing can be sacred unless we deem it so and then make it so.

That sounds like a lovely way to start the weekend, Aimzster. I think it's a nice step towards retaining the balance after a heavy work week.

I like the approach, Kylie! We should be loving ourselves first

Woo hoo, for sure, Ash. You go chica Hope you've been well.

...I like that, Raven. Very profound... Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving
