Valentine's Day ...again!

Valentine’s Day…again!
A male’s perspective...as told to Lara M.
I’m not sure how Valentine’s Day came about, but whoever invented it was an economic genius. Billions of dollars are spent annually on Valentine gifts – usually heart-shaped chocolates, roses, romantic dinners, sexy lingerie or even a sparkly diamond; even a combination of the all mentioned!
There’s an underlying pressure to acknowledge Valentine’s Day...which in itself is unromantic and predictable. Why should we wait to express our love on this day and shouldn’t it be spontaneous? Do we really need to be reminded on how much we love our other-half on a particular day?
Personally I hate being told when to express my love. Plus, who wants to pay over-inflated prices for gifts and dinners, and not to mention flowers! ...BUT will my other-half feel left out if most of the ladies at work received flowers and she didn’t?
We all know there’s a financial crisis going on...but if I don’t succumb to the gimmicks of Valentine’s Day, will my marriage end up needing it’s own stimulus package? What is a man to do?
Sigh…just in case, I had better look up the nearest florist…and the chocolatier…
...unless you have some bright ideas to share with me.
Anyhow, Happy Valentine’s Day!
