Saying IT with music

July 20th 2007 02:20
music notes treble clef

The desire to love and be loved has inspired many to ponder through it and talk about it – whether through literature, writings, art or music, we’re surrounded by expressions of love in one-way or another.

Throughout the years composers have kept up with that passion, giving us (and themselves) different genres of music, making sure we are treated with the right music or song to soothe either a broken heart or to accompany the melodies of happiness and love we feel.

The right music or song has the power to envelope us in its rhythm, harmony and lyrics. It has the power to take us away on a musical journey – even the silence in a piece can hold tremendous effect.

It (music or song) can help set the mood, or even be a prelude to what you have to say (or do!) – so, it can be the ice-breaker that you need if you happen to be the shy sort.

If you choose the *right* song or music, you potentially have the power to unleash the hidden passion of the other person. …or perhaps you’ll be so lucky to lead him/her to let go of his/her inhibitions…

Some favourites culled from “The Collection: Our Cathartic Sessions”:
- “You’re the First, the Last, My Everything” Barry White – wedding song at my friend’s wedding!
- “Sexual Healing” Marvin Gaye – always a goodie!
- “Love Theme from Love Actually” Craig Armstrong – nope, not tired of it yet…
- “Seasons of Love” from the Broadway musical “Rent” – my current favourite favourite!

- Andrea Bocelli – anytime…

Hi Lara, oh, you've mentioned a couple of my favourites - I love Andrea Bocelli - especially Con Te Partiro, Rent's Season of Love. I've also just discovered the Love Theme from Love Actually and it's my current favourite. Hmm...I'll have to get back to you. There are so many. The only thing popping in my mind is Can't Fight This Feeling by Reo Speedwagon - a corny oldie but it always reminds me of the courtship stage of me and my hubby.

Love all the choices here are a few more of my favourites

I love you, even when your sleeping: Leonardo's Bride is my favourite........(don't know if that's the right title)

Always: Mary J Blige and George Michael is a very close second, I am often found playing that 100 times after too many wines.

Let's stay together: Tina turner is a closer no. 3

Then you can't talk love without Barbs........which one do you chose? Guilty maybe for me......

a little left of centre for me is New Order Every time I see you falling, maybe that's just my memories tho

Then INXS Need you tonight is also a left field favourite...........

and we could go on all day....imagine the list of break-up songs......

Hi Lara,

A very interesting post you have here. I'm a music lover. I love listening to all sorts of music, be it - some 70s, 80s, 90s, and the present. But mostly, It helps me get to sleep listening to all that jazz.
