Pet peeves & relationships = ?

Can pet peeves and relationships go together?
Can it be an amicable scenario with no necessary psychiatry sessions?
What are pet peeves?

A pet peeve is a minor annoyance that can create frustration in an individual. Each person usually has several pet peeves that annoy him/her more than another person. Someone else may not react as strongly, negatively or at all to the same situation. Sometimes, it may even seem as being over-reacting to it!

Basically, annoying habit(s) that irk you more than others. Click on this

Some pet peeves & relationship scenarios – culled from “The Collection: Our Cathartic Sessions” :

- She sheds all over the place! Her hair is everywhere -- on the bathroom floor, kitchen floor…just all over the place, and she doesn’t pick ‘em up…!
- He makes a ‘clicking’ choking kind of sound from the back of his throat – I can’t even begin to describe it. It was WEIRD…and he would do it unconsciously especially when he had a few too many drinks.

- A ‘chocking on a fur ball’ sound that she makes when she’s brushing her teeth!
- He shakes his legs when he’s sitting down, and it’s worst when he’s speaking animatedly! Drives me nuts!!

No matter how strong a bond we have with our other half, there would be a pet peeve or two thrown in there (just to spice up the relationship?). At the end of the day, I think we all try to work through those pet peeves in any relationship we have (or want to keep). After all, the pet peeve is really not that big a deal to break the union, is it?

…looking at the big picture (of the relationship) instead of pin-pointing…

Being late, if that's a peeve, I solved it by not starting to get ready until he had got ready.

Does that make sense, it worked for me.

I live on my own now, I guess my pet peeve is me, now that's a worry.

Hair all over the place would be annoying.

Other things you can get away from just by moving away.

I loved the pins, such variety and such pretty colours.

Lara...
My pet peeve is a reaction to his pet peeve. He hates it when I leave things lying around and what he does is he bunches them all up and deposits them on my toilet floor. One time, I've actually seen him swing his arm back and fling my stuff which annoyed me to no end so I rummaged for any of his stuff that was remotely out of place and threw it, not on the toilet floor, but at him. Very immature stuff.

Katyzzz...
That's also another pet peeve of mine. I hate gettng all dressed up and having to wait for him to do the same. I call him 'Timewaster' - he's so damn good at it. And I do exactly the same thing you do. Unfortunately, it hasn't worked.

Hi Lara!

My only pet peeve with my husband is that he forgets to tell me stuff. We have just about opposite work schedules. I do the same, so I can't really bitch about it..we still laugh about the time a friend asked John, "So how's the new kayak working out?" I looked at John: "You got a kayak?" The friend uncomfortably changed the subject. "Dana, how are the drum lessons coming along?" John looked at me: "You're taking drum lessons?"

We've been married and happy for 17 years, so we must be doing something right!

Yes, I'd consider that a peeve -- that would be a peeve of mine too, but so far nothing to complain.

Yea...the pins are great aren't they -- love the concept!

Aimzster... That's funny! U and hubby peeved at each other's peeve A friend of mine has that same problem with her fiance -- so she started *hiding* his stuff to teach him a lesson about leaving it all around, it worked! He's not super tidy but better than before

D... <LOL> Was your friend like 'do you two ever talk?!' Yes, THAT must work for you and John
p/s...Dana - what a lovely name!

Lara - that is the cutest video!!!

I'm single, so I'm pet peeve free!!! Though I hate being made to wait (though I'm always late) and I hate it when people chew noisily. Drives me mental. But then, I'm really messy and sniff a lot because I constantly have a blocked nose!!! So i guess I'm no picnic!

Isn't it the FUNNIEST?! <ROFL...> couldn't stop!

OMG...u a sniffler?! Side-tracking...A couple of months back, I was teaching a class...but it was test day so it was dead quiet, and there was a sniffler in the class! She was driving me mental!!! I was like 'go blow your nose...!'. I was sympathetic to the fact but still....
No offense Kylie

Does excessive shopping by your partner (*ahem usually females! *ahem*) count as a pet peeve then? *haha*

Hmmm...okay...well I don't ever close drawers properly and that annoys my husband.

...and my husband has really heavy footsteps and sure he's a big man but it's just annoying...drives me crazy and I don't care if that's a short trip...

Supposedly, astrologically speaking, my Aquarian organised chaos ways are supposed to annoy my Leo cusp Virgo very organised husband!

To his credit...he lives with my chaos. We share an office although it's my fulltime area of work (because I work from home) but occasionally...oh okay... everyday...his 'side' gets smaller and smaller... and then it's a teeny bit unfair when I get mad because he gets annoyed when he can't get to his filing cabinet....

Ahh sheesh....

Still...for me...my husband is the most perfect man to have ever existed...I guess it's good to see perfection, 'peeves' and all without looking through rose coloured glasses yes?

Funny post Lara!

Have a great weekend!

Dusk

Hi Charles... Har har! Sure...whatever peeves you! Though I do know a few too many (heterosexual/metrosexual) men who enjoy a good shopping excursion

That's the beauty of a GOOD relationship isn't it?

I used to stay with my best friend when we worked together, and boy, he sheds everywhere. I can say. You can find his leg hairs from the living room to the dining and the hallway... Even my other housemate can't take it until we just take turns sweeping the floor, but we were all right with him.

One year later we realised that was not just normal shedding, he had leukemia.

Hair shedding is anoyying, but just swipe them off and you are good. But when you detect leg hair, do ask him to beware of his health.

I have this anoying pet peeve. Like chocking a hair ball everymorning when I wake up. My ex got used to it because it is just a lot of phelm. Just need to remember to drink warm water when you wake up early.

Pet peeves are little anoying stuffs that one is just so used to it when he/she stays alone. It does take a while to get use to it but like Lara said, these shouldn't be the cause of breaking up, unless the pet peeves is over a hundred. Then again, if you start counting then something is wrong... again.

Have a blessed day

That's interesting...Jessicca, and thanks for the tip on warm water -- I should tell her/her other half...! Yea, if one is to keep track of all the wrongs, it ain't a good sign...!

Nice to see you, thanks for your comment.
