…an array of perspectives and random thoughts on love...loveS and life...

"Oh *dear*, where's the...?"

Where is it??

We all know that women and men’s brains are wired differently, and work differently – but let’s not get into the science of it, and let’s talk about the basic everyday encounters that each of us might have with the other half of the human species.

I was talking to my friend Antsy on IM (instant messaging) yesterday, when suddenly she did a ‘grumpy face’ emoticon. She explained that her husband had just very casually walked into the room eating a new packet of gourmet snacks.

She: “Oh! You found it…!”
He: “Why, were these hidden?
She: “No, it’s at the usual place but if I had asked you to go get them, you wouldn’t have found them.”
He: “Well…I can be very determined, my dear…when I want to.”

Which then started our discussion on how a man (generally) can’t find anything when you wanted him to, even if it was right under his nose! Most of us probably have at some point lived with the other-half, and I’m sure you know what I mean.

When was the last time, you had to go find that new jar of peanut butter in the pantry? Or best yet example from my friend Cat – husband opens fridge and (almost immediately) asks, “Honey, where did you put the Vegemite?” Cat walks over to the fridge and in a second whips out the jar (which was right at the front of the shelf)!

glasses things eyewear

So, is it merely a case of ‘if he wants to, he CAN find it’…or is it just that women and men are wired so differently that we see things in different places – literally…

He sounds hopeless, re-arrange everything and 'forget' where you put it, especially if it's his, you'll find how quickly he improves, men know how to push all of our buttons (to their own advantage), there is only one way they'll learn - the hard way. Recognise how silly women are in accommodating them.

Lara, I thought it was just our household!!!

If my husband is searching for something he needs, he can find it. But anything house, food, domestic-related, all I hear is 'have you seen the ....., Trace?'

I now stop answering, he can find it himself. But if I do answer, it has expletives in it....

Phew, what a relief it is to talk about it.

I like your suggestion, katyzzz.

Fantastic suggestion, katyzzz!

<LOL> I reckon it's a universal phenomenon, Tracy!
It is good to let it out

When growing up, my brothers and father ALWAYS did this, and when they'd start whining 'Where's the...' Mum would always ask if they'd had a man's look. She would refuse to move a muscle until they had looked properly rather than having a man's look - ie, glancing halfheartedly before wheedling for a woman to bloody well find it!

God, I have turned into my mother.

“Honey, where did you put the Vegemite?” Hmmm, that's one thing I've never been asked. Maybe it has something to do with LOCATION?????? *LOL

hahaha...actually my husband and I are opposites. I'm the one frantically looking for something, getting all stressed out and he's the one pointing that it's right under my nose. But then he's the clean freak and I'm the messy one. Go figure.

Lovely Lara, we do not see you often enough, get your man to look after YOU. That'll put a few more hairs on his chest.
