The proposal...

wedding rings bands

I guess there are many ways to propose – from the usual romantic to some left-field ideas like adventurous, humorous or just plain unusual, you just need to tap into the creative left reserve of your brain. Just make sure your soon-to-be wife or husband is on the same wavelength as you, and would be wow-ed by your efforts.

To be creative is nice and well, just please don’t be cliché. Done-to-death is the ring in the cocktail, dessert, etc – very passé…and I think we’ve seen it one to many times in the movies. Also, there’s a great possibility for a dying choke before you get a ‘Yes!’. …but if you do choose to go down this path, please make sure you learn the Heimlich Manoeuvre well before you head out.

Something adventurous or sporty can be good fun if both of you are adrenalin junkies. Check-out ways to propose during (or after) bungee jumping, sky-diving…or even scuba-diving.

Humour…well, it can work well but I think most times it can turn out being corny or cheesy. Like a public declaration i.e. skywriting, public proposals at sporting events…or even a billboard ad...ick! Cringe-factor.

Last but not least, the *fail-proof* romantic plan. Works well most of the time, and any gesture would seem grand. It doesn’t have to be expensive nor expansive…just has to come from the heart, and if you know each other well…whatever you do will work and turn out right. Perhaps try it during this or any of that.

How sweet, nose rings, that way you can really keep an eye on those marriage vows.

So the romantic method is the most fail proof one? I might have to tell my brother that, who's planning on getting married!

As for me, I'll have to look back on this entry many years from now

Great post Lara Hope those toes are going well

As much as I hated my own 'proposal', I would have been cringing if he'd done the romantic cliche - I've never been into get down on one knee, hand on heart, I-love-you spiel, etc. I'd prefer the more adventurous, spur-of-the moment proposal and, as you said, straight from the heart, free of frills.

Hi Lara

hhhmmmm the sky writing / billboard thing is definitely cringe worthy! And I would be so paranoid if I were the bloke about giving my gf a ring in a drink or food.

The underwater proposal would be an interesting one - wouldn`t want to lose the ring down there though - that could make things rather interesting!
