Honeymoon Escapades

Ahhh…the bliss, the peace and quiet away from all the buzz of pre-wedding preparations and the wedding event. This is the time for some loving! The time for you to privately celebrate the special relationship you have for each other.

Honeymoons need not be expensive, nor does it have to be the typical routes that are sold at wedding expos. The simplest ideas are sometimes the most romantic and memorable. Whatever your style and budget is, here are some ideas that might just spark a creative idea or two of your own:
adveture holidays, offroad driving, waterfall

Camping – some friends of mine are avid campers, and have travelled the world camping-out at different national parks around the world. So, for their honeymoon they decided to camp-out at different national parks in Southeast Asia, rounding it off by splashing-out with a three-night stay at a beautiful island resort in Malaysia.

Island Resorts – most resorts are made in heaven! Typically, island spa resorts are the perfect venues for a honeymoon. Most have special honeymoon packages that may include a couple’s spa treatment and candlelight dinner.

Adventure getaways – for the boating and yachting enthusiasts, how about renting a beautiful yacht or a powerful catamaran or boat to cruise through the group of islands in Queensland, Australia or the numerous islands in Southeast Asia. For a small price, you can also opt for a skipper and chef to be on-board.

Shopping and culture – if a more urban style appeals to you, a trip to New York with the love of your life can be all the more romantic with a stroll through Central Park followed by a breakfast picnic, and a bit of shopping in the afternoon on the famous Fifth Avenue. Don’t forget to watch a Broadway or two, and to fill your tummy at one of the many world-renowned restaurants there.

For a culture-filled honeymoon, Italy sure hits the mark. With a strong history, it boasts of many romantic and highly significant cities like Venice, Rome, Pompeii and Florence. Not forgetting the beautiful coastline of the Amalfi Coast and charming Tuscany, Italy sure has a lot to offer than just history. I’d be packing my bags!

What’s your ideal honeymoon? If you’re married, what did you do for your honeymoon?

Interesting post LaraM and you're right, no need to break the bank to have a lovely romantic honeymoon!
We took some friends with us on ours and enjoyed every minute, spending time with people who lived overseas and who we hardly get to see! It was still romantic and very memorable!

Mine was at Hayman Island, my husband was a good saver and very generous. That's the way it should be. No paying it off later, if you don't have the funds, do something simpler.

There appear to be plenty of choices.

A friend of mine told me Hamilton Island (or the Hamilton Islands?) was quite nice and the beaches were even better than Fiji's beaches in some parts. So that'll save some money, I guess!

So is Italy your ideal honeymoon story?

ooooh I`m all for the romance, although I think you can make anywhere romantic really... just depends on how far you can stretch the imagination. these are some great ideas!

*sigh* My honeymoon will always be the highlight of my whole wedding, actually make that my whole life to date. We spent 3 blissful weeks in Italy and that pic of the Ponte Vecchio of Florence and the Venice canals bring back memories. Hope to go back one day.

The Honeymoon is the bit I'd spend the most money on. I don't know where in particular I'd want to go, but I like Jo's idea of going with friends. If I have too much 'couple time' doing coupley romantic things I might want a divorce by the end of it. But then I'd never marry a man who said things like 'let's make love' or who wanted to sit around watching sunsets or staring into my eyes or reciting poetry to me anyway...

I would like a relaxing lay on a beach honeymoon I think.

A couple of years ago I did a Contiki tour of Europe and one of the couples on the tour were on their honeymoon. I thought it was a great idea for a honeymoon.

JoH, that sounds like a lovely honeymoon. My friend did the same as well -- they rented an *entire* resort and had close friends and family with them.

I hear Hayman Island is beautiful, katyzzz. Sounds like bliss!

<chuckle> Yea, Krystal...I think it's best to save for a wonderful honeymoon than spend it on an atrociously large and impersonal wedding event. ...but to each their own...

Yea, I've heard too that Hamilton Island is a dream, Dean. Definitely worth saving the $ for!
<giggle> I do love Italy...there's so much on offer, and fairly varied too...but really anywhere with that special someone is fab

Very true, Ash. It's what we make of it...and of course with who Any travel (for me) is a definite high!

<LOL> Funny! Michaelie. ...but I know what u mean Romantic and romance is good...but not severely overboard!

By the beach is a fab idea, Kylie. ...always relaxing and serene -- and there always great honeymoon packages too!

Sounds like u had the right idea, Raven

As they say, Cibb...everyday should be a honeymoon...?
