Flirting is fun. It is also apparently harmless – if executed and managed in the right manner. Most of all, flirting can be that first step to making a new friend or getting to know someone. People say that flirting is natural and we don’t forget how-to – because it’s almost innate. While we may become a little rusty, we wouldn’t lose it… They say the best flirting tactics are ones where it is simple and can be easily performed.

Smile – it doesn’t cost anything and it’s a great *opening* line. If the person returns a genuine smile, you’re given the clear and it shows that perhaps there’s interest on the other side.

Give a coyish look if you must, or a flitting gaze to establish eye contact, but please don’t stare – that’s scary, and could be a clear turn-off.

Forget corny lines – or slapstick lines! It’s good to have humor, but please don’t try to flatter nor impress with mediocre lines. We want to make the person laugh, not cringe with disgust.

Show interest by listening to the person, not glancing at the next hot/attractive person who walks through the door. Be in the moment with the person – that’s if you’re keen on pursuing.

Have fun and be yourself. I personally think that this is the best advice. Nothing worst that being stuck – albeit a few minutes – with someone who’s boring your brains out. Showing that we’re comfortable in our skin tells a lot – it shows sincerity, spontaneity and a positive carefree energy.

What other flirting tactics have your heard of or tried? Which works, and which are duds?

I find completely ignoring a woman usually works. They tend to like that game playing stuff.

Mind you, ignorning them for years, hasn't got me far.

I know, thank you.

Just agree with everything they say, it makes them feel very manly.

Has been known to cause problems later on.

katyzzz....your flirting expert....still do it...but I make sure I never give out the wrong vibes, well, not any more, anyway.

Hmm...I think games are played by both genders, David. It depends on who's more of a pro at it... That's interesting re. ignoring -- it can work...particularly IF she's secretly keen.

You're welcome, katyzzz...that and your colourful personality Very true re. not sending out the wrong vibes! So, flirt if you must but be aware of the vibes you're sending out.
