HOT Dates this Sydney Summer

January 10th 2008 01:38
couple lovers walking by beach

Dating can burn a hole in the wallet…or not. I’m all for good fun times without being over-the-top nor being *cheap* -- after all it’s the thought that was put into it that counts. Here are some date ideas to sizzle up your Summer (date) with. Have fun!

Romantic strolls
The Bondi to Bronte walk with a few pit-stops at the benches by the natural pools, and ending with brunch at one of the cafes. …or top off your evening stroll with drinks at Icebergs.

Another favourite walk of mine is the Manly to Spit Walk (or vice versa). There are different walks available, all graded to suit your fitness level. All the walks are lovely to do, and if ending in Manly…pop into one of the many bars and cafes at the wharf for a cool drink.

Outdoor dining
No, not al-fresco at a restaurant…but how about packing your own picnic. Whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner...picnics are typically fun, and simple to put together too. If the thought of selecting food daunts you, go the experts for some ideas – try a gourmet picnic hamper from Fratelli Fresh, David Jones Food Hall or the Norton Street Grocer.

Movies galore
Enjoy a movie under the stars on a balmy Summer night at one of the Moonlight Cinema available at major cities (in Australia) . Bring along a picnic basket and drinks, and you’ll surely wow your date.

The Art-sy you
To get out of the heat, head indoors and get cultured. Enjoy the arts for free at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in The Domain or at the Museum of Contemporary Art at The Rocks.

What’s your favourite thing to do in the Summer?

Some good idea in there. I love moonlight cinema. In Melbourne there's also rooftop cinema that is very cool too.

I much prefer a laid-back date like a stroll on the beach, or a picnic to the usual dinner-date kind of thing. Much more relaxed....and less nerve-racking

Anything relaxing and laidback and requiring minimal effort. Moonlight Cinema sounds like the way to go, and dinner on Lygon is always a winner - but that's Melbourne!

Stroll along Bondi Beach followed by breakfast/dinner at one of the sidewalk cafes.

People spotting is a real art down there.

Cheers

Well, Lara, nice of you to inquire; hike into the surrounding mountain, have picnic, fish a bit and then head back to some place warm and secure for some double occupancy hammock time with my wife. Raven

I love a picnic by the beach too, Amy -- thanks for sharing!

Rooftop cinema sounds very cool, Kylie. I should look it up to tie-in with a trip over to your city.

Swimming at the rock pools are divine isn't it, Louie -- feels like you're in the sea...but also gives u that secured feeling.

Katyzzz...will keep u posted

Yep...could be very fun and romantic, huh Krystal.

Melbourne is lovely, Michaelie...and I think you are spoilt for choices over there...!

Nice idea, MNG. That stroll is an art in itself...

Raven...that sounds like a fantastic date! Adventurous but relaxing, and with a hint of romanticness.

I hope u enjoyed your visit, when you were here, Dean. U gotta try the rest (of these suggestions) if u get a chance.
