Dinner RUSH...

Dinner Rush…
“The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach” – that’s the old adage. These days, it’s probably through a number of other methods… but let’s not go there (today). I think though that the connection of (good) food and people is gender-free. I love a good meal, and I really enjoy making it from scratch.
There’s something about the cooking process that I find enjoyable… therapeutic if you must. Even when I’ve had a tiring or hard day at work, I typically don’t dread whipping something up. That’s how I start winding down – slicing, dicing, sautéing, with a glass of wine and music in the background. I must admit though, it is nicer when cooking for two – ok, it can be for more people… but I’mtrying to stick sticking with the theme of my blog...
Cooking with the other half can a sensual experience, especially when good wine and music is involved. There’s something sexy about him wielding a sharp weapon over raw food, and very coolly throwing the food into a pan over a hot fire… the steam… the heat… the smells from the cooking food all becomes too heady in a moment, and can quickly switch into an intimate experience…
My idea of a good meal/dinner date…
- A good bottle (or two!) of Shiraz Grenache or Cabernet Sauvignon, though Grenache/Shiraz Viognier seems to be a bit of a trend these days
- Appetisers/Starters:
Fresh figs oven-roasted or grilled with goat cheese/ricotta OR lime juice marinated king prawns sautéed and then sprinkled with fresh chopped parsley
- Entrees/Mains:
Sautéed mushrooms with sun-dried tomatoes and black olives tossed with farfalle OR Lamb-cutlets marinated with mint, rosemary, oregano and a dash of olive oil and grilled in the oven – for both these dishes I recommend sautéing finely chopped garlic with it / adding finely chopped garlic to the marinade IF your other half is ok with it
- Dessert:
Vanilla yoghurt over diced fruit, and dark chocolate on the side, over a glass of muscat or sweet liquors (I like Frangelico or Sambuca)
Buon Appetito!
That's my short-list...rush… What’s your rush?
p/s…
> Good movies to go with the night – “Dinner Rush”, “Chocolat”, “The Big Chill”, “Like Water for Chocolate”, and a few many more…
> Also, check-out the bookstores for books on (intimate) cooking and recipes – apparently this category exists!

Cooking something usually stresses me out but I find when I'm actually kneading something, rolling them into balls (like dough or meatballs), it calms me down and it doesn't matter if it's taken me one to two hours to prepare the meal. As for my perfect meal/dinner date - it would be having oysters kilpatrick for entree, angel hair pasta with prawns, capers & rocket lettuce; cheesecake or tiramisu with a hot mug of mocha; then settling down to watch a movie with a bottle of red Riccadonna.

Wow, this was hot, hot, hot, how could he resist, woo whatever way works, a gal has to look out for her intentions.
Who need a fishing rod with food like that, let alone the preparation. If I were a bloke you'd have won me.
Most males are timid especially those you'd like to see hang around for a while, so play it cool, honey, let him think he's doing the running.
With food like that he should be back for more.
Glad you like cooking, the essentials of living.

The thoughts conjured up from your post? I think we would have to stagger the meal over a weekend! whew! steamy indeed!
I love cooking too - and generally by the time I have finished cooking I have lost my appetite and don`t eat any of it! It`s all about the experience isn`t it?
great post!

Hi Chic C... I say, get cooking with the man then, or you could get the man cooking for you
Hi Kylie... Your garlic and feta stuffed mushrooms sounds yum! I assume it's grilled? What kind of mushrooms do you use?
Hi Ash... Ooooh...that's a brilliant idea, staggering it over the weekend!
Thanks for popping in everyone. Hope you enjoy the recipes!
