Can Christmas Gifts Wreck Relationships?
December 6th 2009 01:28
Just 19 days to go before the fanfare of gift giving and receiving begins!
Have you written a list and checked it twice? Do you know what you’re getting for whom?
Christmas gift giving has transgressed from a simple act of giving and receiving from the heart into a monstrosity of giving and receiving wants – courtesy of course from the commercial entities that constantly subliminally bombard us with
Buying her the latest fragrance from Chanel or Gucci might put you into the good books. However, do make sure you get the appropriate scent. She might get mighty offended if you picked a *granny scent*…
Before you embark on your shopping, I suggest you listen and pay attention to what s/he wants. Even if it was a beautiful Tiffany gift, it might not be right if it was the cheapest on the list… Go figure!
As for me…I’m just as happy if it was a home-cooked meal or an offer to clear my store-room/attic – or some other mundane chore ;- )
Merry Christmas! ...and it’s not about the gift…

I have nearly finished my shopping - such an ordeal! Though it's so nice giving them all away on the day.
But you're right, it's not really about that, that's just part of the ritual, my favourite part of it is just having everyone come together to eat and drink and have fun.
Nice post Lara : )

Yea...get-togethers for good food and drinks are much nicer presents. Hope 2010 brings us more of those
