Some of the best dates...
July 4th 2007 02:20
Dates… a social appointment, engagement, or occasion arranged beforehand with another person, with romantic intentions or not.
Not sure how or when dates came along, but it’s been going on for a long time. While it has lead to many broken hearts, it has lead to many more happy marriages, and good memories and experiences.
First dates tend to be the most nerve-wrecking, with much time spent thinking about what to wear, where to go and what to do. Some like to start off on a casual note with a coffee, others like to imbibe in a few drinks, and the brave ones take to a proper dining affair.
Whatever your style is, being natural and simple with some thought into it is sometimes best. It doesn’t have to be expensive or even cost any money. I think some of my best dates have been ones where it’s been fairly casual and we didn’t spend too much – and where the chemistry was just right…
As I reminisce, let me share with you some of my best dates…
- The Bondi to Bronte walk with a few pit-stops at the benches by the natural pools, and ending with brunch at one of the cafes
- Us making a home-cooked meal over red wine and Bocelli
- Trekking in the beautiful and serene Daintree Rainforest on a rainy day. It was cool, so no mosquitoes! The best part, jumping in at the waterfalls… and then scuba-diving in the Great Barrier Reef the next day.
- Picnic with a bottle of sparkling Burgundy on a warm Autumn day by a secluded rocky waters’ edge

I've done that Bondi to Bronte walk as well but you can hardly classify that as romantic when the guy you were with was too busy ogling bare-chested women on the beach, do you? I actually prefer the Manly to Spit walk. The Daintree Forest walk sounds really nice.
Alas - no romantic dates are coming to mind.

And a picnic in the bush with that same person, I could go on and on to a simple milkshake at another time another place another date? [with a previous boyfriend - just met]
And some non romantic evenings driving around in a car at night listening to music.
But none in the rainforest, with that I can't compete.
But a honeymoon on Hayman Island was pretty good, call that a date?

Funny how love finds us in the end... If you believe in fate, I think that might just be it...

Hmmm, I don't think it necessarily has to be romantic for it to be the best date. I think as long as both parties had a great time and it's memorable...it can be a best date. Just my thoughts...

Anytime when it's a great time and memorable...it should count as 'best'...

That rainforest walk sounds great!
I used to have a really romantic boyfriend. He would arrive randomly at the house just before sunset to pick me up and drive out into the bush to this secluded lookout that overlooked a small dam.
We would sip on some wine and enjoy the peace and quiet together, watching the animals come down to drink and the sky ablaze in all it`s glory.
Or intimate dinners at a great little Italian Restaurant with booths for privacy.
He was the first and last romantic person I have dated ~chuckle~
