The following sounds a bit harsh but I couldn’t help but giggle-laugh out loud. Whoever wrote it surely had a sense of humour and was perhaps having a go at the less-than-perfect other half...? If it’s less than perfect you could either fix it or get a new one…

Men are like fine wine: They all start out as grapes, and it is your job to stomp on them and keep them in the dark until they mature into something you'd want to have with dinner.

That is a really good saying. . I am trying to think of the equivalent one for a good wife, but just too tired this afternoon to think of a single creative thing. . absolutely lulled by a huge lunch and some very fine wine [of a classic vintage]
